May, June and July are busy months in the garden and also for the society.
In May a coach full of Melksham gardeners visited Wakehurst Place in Sussex. Wakehurst is a partner garden of Kew and is home to the Millennium Seed Bank. At the time of the visit the gardens were resplendent with rhododendrons and azaleas in full flower and the unusual pocket handkerchief tree was in flower. The weather was perfect and a fabulous day was had exploring these extensive gardens.
Our club meeting for May was our annual plant swap and quiz night which was a big success with around 60 members present. Many plants were swapped and a very competitive garden based quiz was enjoyed by the members. As usual quiz master Barbara Cropp had set some tricky questions to test the knowledge of our expert gardeners.
The clubs June meeting with be a members only visit to a specialist iris garden in Midsomer Norton
