Melksham Army Cadets are now officially affiliated with the local Royal British Legion (RBL) branch.
A special parade was held recently to mark the affiliation, where the head of the Melksham RBL branch, Trevor Paterson, had the privilege of inspecting the cadets as he presented them with their RBL affiliation badge, which they proudly wore for the first time at the Remembrance Sunday commemorations in November.

A spokesperson for the branch said it was a ‘proud day’ for the ever-growing detachment, which has made significant contributions to the RBL Poppy Appeal on an annual basis for many years.
The affiliation means the two groups will work more closely to raise funds for the RBL and support the local community.

The parade marking the affiliation was attended by the parents and family members of the cadets, along with Juno Company Headquarters Wiltshire ACF Captain Roberts and Sergeant Major Instructor Dutton and Treasurer Trevor Paterson of Melksham RBL branch.
The detachment staff were also in attendance, including the current commander Staff Sergeant Instructor Painter, Sergeant Instructor Mulvaney and Sergeant Instructor Gardiner.
