LOCAL charity Re Engage is appealing for volunteers to help continue its work, hosting tea parties for lonely and isolated older people in Melksham.
“Re Engage is a local charity hosting monthly Sunday afternoon tea parties for six to eight elderly, sometimes lonely, folk in different homes in Melksham,” explains Martin Elson from Re Engage.
“Open to people aged 75 and over, they are a chance for a change of scenery and regular afternoons of conversation and laughter with friends. And, of course, quite a lot of cups of tea and a slice of cake. Many guests become good friends and really enjoy meeting up in different homes.
“Each month, volunteer drivers collect perhaps a couple of guests, bring them to the tea party, enjoy the tea then take the guests back home.
“We urgently need two or three more tea party hosts who would host a party perhaps two or three times a year. We also need one or two drivers who would help out one Sunday afternoon a month.”
If you think you could help, please phone Martin Elson on 01225 707534.
