BLENHEIM House has helped local woman, Sam Hughes-Smith, raise money for CLIC Sargent the national cancer charity for children, young people and their families.
Sam will be running the London Marathon this year raising money for the charity that supports youngsters with cancer and their families with a range of services, from therapy to legal advice and housing.
In 2012, at the age of 19, Sam was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma – a type of cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
Whilst receiving treatment, Sam and her family received support from CLIC Sargent.
Following a report in Melksham News, Sam was invited to Blenheim House care home to meet with residents and staff to hear her story.
Lifestyle and events manager, Chris Guest said, “Sam took a tour of our home and met residents and staff who raised £200 for CLIC Sargent and listened to her passion for the cause.
“Later our home manager, Mirko, met with Sam to discuss future projects as part of our dedication to supporting community initiative -we are looking forward to working with Sam and CLIC Sargent in 2020!
“It is a fantastic cause that Sam is raising money for and Blenheim House are only too happy to help. We are dedicated to supporting local causes and people motivated to improve the lifestyle of our communities, so hopefully we can do lots of projects in the future together and help raise more awareness for CLIC Sargent.”
