CARERS working out of Melksham were recently awarded for their hard work, at a dedicated afternoon at Somerset Care’s Wiltshire branch.
The care workers, who provide community support and residential and nursing care for older people across the South West, were selected for their outstanding contributions in the area.
Care manager at the branch in Challeymead Business Park, Kelly Vines said, “We held an awards afternoon to recognise and thank some staff members who have really stood out and gone the distance for the customers that we look after and who depend on us.
“We have so many wonderful support workers in our team and sadly we couldn’t have them all here today so we picked staff who really had gone the extra mile so far this year.
“These dedicated few have supported not just our customers and their families in difficult times but us as well at Somerset care.
“We had tea and cake as part of the celebration and it was wonderful to be able to sit and listen to the team chatting about why they chose a career in care.
“Some said that they wanted to do something worthwhile and something that really makes a difference to other peoples lives.
“It was agreed by all that it is a very rewarding job and that you get to meet a wide range of wonderful people, this was why we felt it was important to recognise our staff and take the time to thank them, as often you never know how valuable support and care workers until you need them.
“We gave the staff members certificates for their achievements along with flowers or a voucher and a letter from the Somerset Care Ltd Board of Directors also thanking them.
“We hope to be doing a lot more afternoons and events like this where we can make sure our staff know what a wonderful job they do and how grateful we are to them.”
Those awarded were; Gemma Brimson, Chris Denmark, Sandy Pepler, Lisa Hunt, Sally Martin, Hayley Martin, Theresa Smith, Fran Bird, Carolyn Ronning, Rachel Lye, Karen Martin, and Jenny Futcher.
