This year’s carnival royalty has been chosen ahead of the much-loved event in July.
The selection day was held on Sunday 22nd March at the Assembly Hall and included the return of the Carnival Cake-Off and Carnival Cuddlies competition.
Melksham’s new carnival royal family are: Queen Victoria, Princess Betsy N, Butterfly Princess Morgan, Fairy Princess Betsy L and Prince Josh.
The chosen royalty will represent the town at community and carnival-related events.
The carnival committee said, “The competition was tough, especially in the older princess and prince categories and we are very pleased that it was down to the judges to choose and not us as we wouldn’t have been able to decide.”

This year’s Carnival Cake Off competition was won by Vicky Taylor, who had the highest score across multiple baking categories, which included scones, cakes and visually stunning cupcakes.
Residents brought their cuddly toys to be judged in the Carnival Cuddlies competition. The ‘most vintage’ soft toy was 90 years old.
The committee said, “We hope that Melksham supports us in giving this year’s royalty the best year ever and join us on 18th July for the main event.”
