A charity luncheon with live classical music, hosted by Classic FM’s Anne-Marie Minhall, will be held at Lowden Garden Centre in Shaw on Saturday 18th August.
Proceeds from the event will go to the counselling charity We Hear You (WHY), who provide free professional counselling for anyone affected by cancer or other life-threatening condition across Wiltshire, Somerset and BANES.
Guests will be greeted with a drinks reception and music by the Welsh string quartet, Cambria, followed by a two-course buffet lunch and a talk by Classic FM’s Anne-Marie Minhall, who is also offering a tour of the Classic FM studio and tea and cake as a prize in the event’s charity auction. Artwork will be on sale from The WHY Gallery, an art gallery and exhibition space showcasing the work of local artists and makers, with all proceeds from commission to go to We Hear You.
Organiser, Christopher Scott-Moody, contacted WHY after hearing a radio broadcast in October 2017, when they were a chosen charity for Global Radio’s ‘Make Some Noise’ campaign. As a single father of two, following the death of his wife from cancer, he was touched by the stories of young people helped by WHY’s counselling service and he contacted fundraising and communications manager, Gemma Wilkes, to offer his support.
Gemma says, “We were delighted to hear from Christopher and we’re so grateful to him for organising this fantastic event for us. Our service is available to anyone who needs it in Wiltshire and we offer counselling in Bradford-on-Avon, Trowbridge and Warminster, but it’s great to be able to spread the word about WHY in a part of the county where we’re less well-known.

The charity lunch takes place on Saturday 18th August at Lowden Garden Centre, Bath Road, Shaw, SN12 8EZ from 12.15pm.
