Children at Daisychain Day Nursery in Whitley joined in the fun for a week of Children in Need fundraising, whilst providing a very good opportunity to bring an awareness of children’s different needs to the children in the nursery.
Sarah Radford said, “As usual we had organised a wide range of activities for all the babies, toddlers and pre-school children and parents to take part in, from making and decorating gingerbread teddies and red and yellow marbled cakes, learning teddy bear songs and rhymes and making up new versions of songs to well-known songs and rhymes.
“By the end of the week there was a Daisychain Pudsey gallery of all the pictures that were drawn, coloured, painted and collaged during the week.
“We had a nursery rhyme quiz for the parents, and the winner received a bottle of prosecco. There was a teddy bear who was looking for a new home; to win him children had to pick a name from the choice of 54 and keep their fingers crossed that they had picked the correct one, (teddy’s name was Franklin.) Staff and parents donated their old £1 coins that they still had knocking around in the car, pockets, bottoms of bags and in money boxes and throughout the week, staff and children dressed in spotty clothes and accessories.
“We made a huge Pudsey bear with spots, which was signed by parents when they donated money to any of the activities that they chose to join in with, and the total that we raised was £176.75.”
