A LOCAL author is headed to Las Vegas in October after her series of children’s books won an international award.
Sarah Hill, Seend resident and author of the ‘Whimsy Wood’ children’s books, recently won the Chapter Book category in the International Children’s Literary Classics Book Awards. She won the award for her book ‘Posie Pixie And The Fireworks Party’; the fourth in a series of books for five to eight year-olds. She will now attend the award ceremony and Vegas Valley Book Festival in Las Vegas later this year.
Sarah told Melksham News, “I am still in shock! These prestigious awards recognise authors across the globe for their contributions to the craft of writing, illustrating, and publishing exceptional literature for a youth audience.
“I am absolutely overjoyed that one of my Whimsy Wood children’s books has been recognised in this way, and to be part of such an exciting literary festival in America!”
The win coincided with the release of her ninth book in the series, ‘Fearne Fairy And The Chocolate Caterpillar’.
