Sun Nin Fei Lok means ‘Happy New Year’ and Kung Hei Fat Choy means ‘Congratulations and Prosperity’. The Chinese New Year begins on 19th February, and 2015 is the Year of the Goat!
What is Chinese New Year? Chinese New Year is the most important of the Chinese holidays, and is a time of feasting with the family, celebration, fireworks and gift-giving. It is a 15-day feasting, meeting and gathering of family and friends; beginning on the first day of a new moon and ending with the full moon on the day of the Lantern Festival.
The Chinese calendar is based on the lunar year, so the date of Chinese New Year changes every year. The Chinese calendar follows a 12-year pattern with each year named after an animal.

There are lots of Chinese known as Baba and Nonya (generations of Chinese mixed with other races in Malaysia) and their feasting has a Malaysian flavour.
Melksham Baptist Church have deviated from a totally Chinese flavour by holding a Malaysian Surprise evening on Saturday 21st February at 6.00pm, and would invite anyone who is interested to join them. £5.00 per person and RSVP (essential) to 01225 702528 by 15th February at the latest with numbers attending for catering purposes.
