MACAPELLO, Melksham’s Community Choir, will be performing a benefit concert for Ukraine on Wednesday 20th July at 7.30pm at the Baptist Church, Old Broughton Road.
Proceeds from the concert will go to groups supporting local Ukrainian refugees.
The concert features the choir performing a varied range of their wide repertoire, including a beautiful heartfelt lullaby from Ukraine as well as uplifting pop hits, songs from all round the world, old chestnuts and soulful spirituals. There will also be a special guest in attendance, local singer-songwriter Tabitha.
Macapello has been singing together in Melksham for 10 years, going from strength to strength and building a big repertoire of songs from all traditions. The choir kept singing all through the pandemic, mostly on Zoom, but are now back singing live!
“Anyone is welcome to join Macapello – no musical experience required, no reading, just come along and sing for fun – we are a very friendly bunch!” they say. The choir meets on Wednesday evenings in term-time at the church.
Tickets for the benefit concert are £5, available from the Tourist Information Centre in Church Street or on the door. The concert is on Wednesday 20th July at 7.30pm at the Baptist Church, Old Broughton Road.
