The Swap Society are returning to Melksham for another one of their much-loved Clothes Swap following the success of their launch event earlier this year.
Due to run on Saturday 9th August, from 10am to 1pm, at Doubles on Avonside, entry to the clothing swap is £5, payable in cash at the door.
Clothing swappers can bring up to 20 items of preloved clothing in a bag (no hangers required).
For each item brought, a token is received. These tokens can be exchanged for other preloved items in the curated swap area.
Founded as a passion project by two local women, Meagan Powell and Gracie May White, Swap Society is a grassroots initiative that aims to break the cycle of throwaway fashion and overconsumption by creating a conscious community with sustainable fashion at its core.
“This is more than just a clothing exchange. It is a growing shift in how we think about fashion and Swap Society are proud to be part of shaping that future,” said Meagan and Gracie May.
At the event, expect a morning of fresh coffee, vinyl beats and second-hand style. “Whether you’re a first-time swapper or seasoned second-hand shopper, Swap Society at Doubles is a must-attend,” they said.
Adults’ and children’s clothing are both welcome. Children’s clothing tokens can only be used to swap for other children’s items.
Guests are free to come and go during the event while they hold tokens. If someone runs out of tokens but spots something they love, additional items are just £2 each.
Items accepted include good quality women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, shows, bags, scarves and accessories. Underwear, swimwear or dirty or damaged items will not be accepted.
