A GROUP of Melksham’s budding young dancers took the stage at auditions for Britain’s Got Talent this month, and their coach has spoken of her pride in the girls.
Eight girls from local dance school, 4Stars Dance, were chosen to audition for the popular TV talent show after being scouted at a competition in Wales.
Mollie Robinson, Rihana Ogbourne, Jess Williams, Megan Dodd, Connie Hillier, Lainey Butler, Maeve Harryman and nine year-old Lilia Ashman all travelled to the Wales Millenium Centre in Cardiff to perform.
“The girls all danced brilliantly,” coach Emma-Jane Chivers said. “The audience wasn’t huge as it was only family members of the people auditioning allowed, which meant they had to create their own energy and vibe to feed off whilst dancing; they certainly did!”
The girls put on three performances between them – a team one, a duet, and a solo performance. There were around 12 other acts auditioning alongside them, including more dancers, musicians, and acrobats.
Emma-Jane continued, “We all had a fun day and the girls enjoyed it; it was interesting to see the other acts and who they were up against. We now have to wait until January before we hear anything but I’m so proud of them all regardless of what happens now.
“We’re not expecting to win Britain’s Got Talent but the whole experience has been very exciting and I’m proud of them for even getting to perform in front of ITV! When we arrived in the afternoon the girls were given a private dressing room and then had a quick rehearsal. Once ITV arrived, the auditions were an informal interview with the compere about their act, then a performance and then another chat afterwards.
“They had a manic weekend with all that on Friday, dance lessons from 8:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday and another competition on Sunday! They just keep going and are all stars.”
