A family fun day held at The Bear, Weatherspoons last month raised £1,735 for charity.
Barbara Davis, Shelley Davis, Sue Georgio and Claire Younger organised the event to raise money and awareness for two charities; When you Wish Upon a Star and Clic Sergent.
Shelley said, “It went much better then hoped and the crowds came and supported us which was amazing. We hope to do it again next year for a different local charity. A huge thank you to the businesses and individuals for their fantastic support and generosity which really made this all happen and made it a marvelous day.”
Barbara added, “We would like to say a special thanks to Matt Humphries who is the manger of The Bear for allowing the use of the pub. But also for his help and support before, during and after the event.
“Also we’d like to thank Asda in Melksham for their huge generosity and help on the day and also to Aldi for their support.
“Thank you to The Ray Jones Band who came in at short notice and brought the crowds in with their amazing performance. Thanks to Ali Jewers for hosting the quiz and the teams who participated. We’d also like to thank Bounce-A-Roo who organised the princesses and bouncy castle.”
Claire and Shelley also completed their London to Brighton challenge which was a grueling 100km cross county walk. Barbara said, “It took the girls 22 hours and 17 minutes to complete it. They’re now resting before their training starts for Race to the Stones on the 11th July.
“We have raised a staggering £3,700 and with the Race to the Stones challenge, we are hoping to reach £4,000.”
