FOREST Community Centre is preparing to celebrate its second anniversary on Saturday 1st August.
The celebration starts at 11am onwards with Melksham Radio, a “scruff dog show” sponsored by Chapel Veterinary Surgery, pony rides, a car boot sale, tombola and stalls a including coconut shy and plate smashing. For young visitors, there will be visits from Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy and Buzz Lightyear plus much more.
The celebrations will continue in the evening with free entertainment by Pete Lamb’s Heart Beats, with families welcome.
Community centre chairman Vic Oakman said, “It’s been a really successful two years and has gone much better than we expected. We are able to offer more and more events now, and things are starting to move along at quite a pace. The centre has given people in the Forest area somewhere to go for groups and clubs and somewhere to hold parties and events. In the past, they would have had to go elsewhere in the town.
“We’re licensed to hold weddings now so we’re hoping they will take off, and the football club is looking to get chartered status and start a ladies’ team.”
The community centre near Bowmans Court now plays host to private parties, weddings, skittles matches, community groups, and Forest Community Centre FC.
