ARE you 55+? A special Community Day has been organised for Melksham to find out what’s going on in their town for today – Thursday 30th June.
It’s a chance to discover the wide range of activities and hobbies available locally for the 55+ age group.
“This is a unique chance to find out what’s going on locally, plus an excellent opportunity to make your own suggestions for any other hobbies or activities you would like to see available and promoted for the 55+ age group in Melksham,” said organiser Brian Warwick, chair of the Melksham Seniors.
“The event takes place at the Canberra Centre from 1.30-4pm and everyone is welcome.
“We have got dozens of local clubs and organisations together to show the amazingly wide range of events available to people as they get older,” added Brian. “It’s also a chance for people to make suggestions about what they would like to see.
“Would you like a bridge or chess club? Would you like to go skydiving? This is your chance to see if it’s already done locally and, if it’s not, to see how we can go about making it happen.
“Whatever you enjoy doing, meet like-minded people who share your interest and hobbies; whether it be pottery making, gardening, walking, music, arts and crafts, DIY – or anything else – come together and share your passions.
“The event also welcomes younger members of the community to come along and see what hobbies and activities their older family members are doing. You don’t have to be 55+ to attend; everyone is welcome.”
