WELL House Manor on Spa Road is set to host a community seed swap event next week.
On Saturday 8th March between 2.00pm-4.00pm anyone who has been a gardener for any length of time – whether simply growing a few flowers in a border at home or keeping the kitchen well stocked on an allotment or two – will be bound to have a few spare packets of seeds lying around and this will be your opportunity to swap them.
The Melksham Community Seed Swap is a great opportunity to exchange some of those seeds, crowns or sets for something else you might be short of. This could help save money and maybe try something new. Even if you don’t have seeds to swap, everybody is welcome for an afternoon of meeting other gardeners and chatting about all things green and growing. Teas, coffees and Well House Manor’s home-made cakes will all be on sale too.
Here is how it works:-
1. Turn up with seeds to swap (clearly labelled and saved in packets or envelopes)
2. Take a look at what’s on offer and swap your seeds either directly with other gardeners or from the community collection. If you don’t have anything to swap, make a donation.
3. Have fun and feel encouraged to try new varieties!
Organisers say, “There’s no need to buy a ticket in advance, but a small entry fee (by donation) will be collected to support the cost of staging the event.”
