LOCAL woman, Sue Mortimer, raised nearly £150 in memory of a close friend at her Doorstep Carols Event last month.
The money raised will be donated to the MND (Motor Neurone Disease) Association for support in Wiltshire, in memory of John Howell, who died in January 2018.
In attendance were Sue’s friends, neighbours, Melksham town councillors and staff, PSG Choir members, and the Bell’s Angels Morris dancing group – which Sue is a member of – who also performed at the end of the carol singing.
Sue said, “The charity for the evening to support was chosen as MND in memory of John Howell, a close friend of the family, who sadly passed away 4th January 2018. It was great that his widow Sally was at the event and £148.20 was collected for MND support in Wiltshire.
“So a big thank you for those who firstly came to the event and secondly donated to such a great cause. I know some people were disappointed not to have been able to make it – just come next year!
“I would like to say a big thank you to Melksham Town Council for the use of the gazebo; Jeff Mills and Chris Strawson for delivering the gazebo; Jeff Mills, Colin Goodhind and my husband Bob Mortimer for putting up the gazebo; Colin Goodhind and Rich Southgate for sorting out the radio by allowing us to use parkrun equipment; Colin Goodhind for the lighting decoration; PSG choir members and Bell’s Angels for adding fun to the night; Linda De Santiz for doing some photos and streaming it live; and everyone for working together to make what I hoped was going to be a good evening, a truly amazing event.”
