COULD you be a vital link in the community? Melksham and District Link is looking for new drivers.
The Melksham and District Link is a charity service that drives people to medical appointments across the region, making over 40 trips per week. Their clients include the elderly, less able, and those who cannot drive themselves and the group is always looking for new drivers.
This is a voluntary position and is not paid, however a fuel allowance is paid at 45p per mile. This is a tax free payment and is the maximum amount allowed by the government at the present time.
Melksham & District Link drivers are wonderful people who take local people to hospital and other medical appointments. The Driver collects the person from their home and takes them to their appointment, waits for them and takes them back again. The drivers receive the fuel allowance for every mile covered from the moment they leave their own home.
This position is ideal for anyone recently retired and looking for something to fill the gap, the hours, days and times are entirely flexible, drivers work when they want which need not be the same every week. This is the ideal volunteering job for people who do not want to be tied to a particular day or job every week. Drivers can choose to do only local or longer journeys i.e. Bath, Swindon.
