INDEPENDENT Melksham Without North Councillor Terry Chivers is demanding to know why Wiltshire Council are sending parking wardens to the town on a Sunday, to police almost empty car parks in the town when car parking is free anyway.
He is also demanding to know why the council are refusing requests from local residents and schools to police illegal parking around local schools in and around the town.
Cllr Chivers said, “I have contacted Carlton Brand at Wiltshire Council asking why we are wasting all this public money, how much is it costing to employ wardens on a Sunday to police empty car parks, and why is the council refusing to police the areas outside of our local schools when clearly we have a problem with illegal parking.
“I recently spoke to a governor of Aloeric School in the town centre who tells me that they have made endless calls to the council asking for help to police the parking outside of the school, and the council just don’t seem interested.”
