A LOYAL group of customers have volunteered their time to allow a Melksham shop to remain open whilst the owner is on maternity leave.
Customers of Komix have agreed to help Hayley Spencer as she will be absent for six months.
In her absence Matt Gatty will be managing KomiX in a remote capacity, handling online customer enquiries, ordering the stock and supporting their in-store people.
Those that have agreed to help in the running of the day-to-day aspect are: David Cromarty, Chris Shuttleworth, Kim Seviour, Virginie Djaileb, and also two more younger assistants who are still training.
Hayley said, “On Christmas Eve, I’ll be leaving for six months on maternity leave. I have been incredibly lucky in being able to take this amount of time off, being that I’m self-employed, as a group of incredible customers and supporters have rallied round and offered their time between them to keep the doors open, and the business running in my absence! This shows just how strong and supportive the Melksham community can be, and I am so grateful for their offers of help.
“All of these people started out as customers of the shop, with Kim and Matt being long-time friends of mine who are in a position to help as part of a team. Without them, I simply wouldn’t be able to balance my professional and personal life in the way I’ve now been allowed. I am so grateful to have such a fantastic support network that has evolved from a community that’s built on the success of the business!
“We have lots in the pipeline for KomiX in 2015, as well as adding to the family! We are currently looking at stocking and launching local Magic the Gathering casual gaming and tournaments; more details will be coming soon about a special Doctor Who Day in March, featuring a special guest; and the annual Free Comic Book Day will be returning on 2nd May – it’s one of our busiest days of the year, so make sure you save the date!”
