AN award-winning British dairy export company is due to move into its new million pound headquarters in Melksham.
Coombe Castle International, is due to move into the former Falcon Interiors building near Asda in June. The site will become their headquarters as a 1.1 million pound loan was secured from Barclays to fund the move.
They export dairy products including cheese, cream and butter to over 40 countries worldwide including Australia, China and the USA.
The company currently has two sites, in Corsham and Calne. The new headquarters will mean both existing sites will close and the workforce will move to their new base in Melksham. As well as securing the site on Great Western Way the company has been celebrating winning three prestigious awards. They won the Queens Award for International Trade and The Enterprising Wiltshire Business of the Year 2013 and Best Exporter – North Wiltshire.
It is the third time that the company has won the Queens Award for International Trade since 2001.
Coombe Castle International managing director Darren Larvin said, “The move will be a great opportunity for our teams to come together.
“We have struggled along with space and hopefully we can grow with everybody on one site. At the moment we have seven small industrial units in Corsham that we keep knocking through, it’s not a good way to organise a business.
“The new headquarters site is currently being refurbished with cold stores going in and we hope to be able to move in sometime in June.
“The move to a site so nearby means we can keep all our staff and it’s good that some good can come out of Falcon going into liquidation. The building being used can only be a good thing.
“We have no plans to expand our workforce at the moment but there is potential in the future. The new headquarters should hopefully mean we can employ more permanent staff and less temporary as we do at the moment.”
The company was originally founded in 1980 on the farm of chairman Glyn Woolley and now employs 30 people.
