ARE you interested in volunteering and supporting older people? There are lots of opportunities to volunteer with Melksham Seniors, whether you can spare a few hours a week or a couple of days a month, there will always be something for you to do.
Chairman of Melksham Seniors Forum, Brian Warwick said, “Our most urgent need is for a keen administrator with good IT skills to provide voluntary administrative support for say three hours per week, working from our local office near the town centre or from home.
“We would love to also have the support of a young enthusiastic graphic designer to help us produce a regular newsletter, posters and keep our website weekly updated. We will meet reasonable out of pocket expenses.
“We are looking to creating a befriending plus scheme which matches volunteers age 55+ with older people to accompany them to activities and events, building their confidence and helping them to get involved in their local community. Do you love to knit? Have a passion for dancing, singing, painting, photography, IT , word games or perhaps you’re a keen cook or gardener? What ever your skills and hobbies you enjoy we would love your support.
“Please share your skills with us whether its setting up an activity or volunteering at an existing one there is always a way to get involved. Please e-mail wickwar@mac.com with details of the skills you can offer, or phone 792959.”
