DOROTHY House Furniture on Church Street is now open on a Sunday, with the clothes store opposite soon to follow.
The popular furniture store sells a range of household items including wardrobes, dining room tables and chairs, living room suites and dinner sets, as well as electrical items.
Store manager Hugh Morrison is excited about the extra money Sunday trading will raise for the hospice. He said, “It’s fantastic, the more money we can take for the hospice the better. The shop supports the local hospice which costs £9,500 a day to run. We’ve always been asked about whether we are open on a Sunday so I’m very pleased we finally can tell people, yes we are!
“Most Dorothy House charity shops will be open on a Sunday soon. We are the first in Melksham and the clothes shop opposite will do the same in the coming weeks.”
The store will be open from 10am-4pm on a Sunday but will be unable to accept donations on a Sunday for health and safety reasons. The store is also looking for volunteers to help on Monday and Tuesday afternoon and Saturday morning and afternoon.
