BE a ‘Saturday Night Diva’ and join the 8km sponsored walk on 9th September.
Dorothy House Hospice Care’s 2017 Bath Moonlight Walk will be held on Saturday 9th September, with support from top athletes, Corsham-based paralympic swimming champion, Stephanie Millward, and Jo Muir, modern pentathlete and sports ambassador for Dorothy House. The women-only sponsored 8km Moonlight Walk, now in its eleventh year, is an unmissable fundraising event for many local women and starts from the SouthGate Shopping Centre in Bath at 10pm.
The Bath Moonlight Walk is Dorothy House’s biggest annual fundraiser and last year attracted almost 800 entrants who raised over £95,000 towards caring for people with life-limiting illnesses. Entries are open at www. bathmoonlightwalk.org.uk.
This year’s theme for the Moonlight Walk is ‘Saturday Night Diva’ and aims to bring women together to celebrate life and support the ‘sisterhood’ of people who are affected by, or instrumental in, the provision of end of life care in our community. Friends, mothers, daughters, aunts, grandmas and sisters will be hitting the streets for the Bath Moonlight Walk dressed in their best glittery disco gear to celebrate the vital work of Dorothy House and share a great night out.
The Walk is open to women aged 14 and over and starts at 10pm on Saturday 9th September from the SouthGate shopping centre and takes in the main sights of the city of Bath. If any men would like to join in the fun, Dorothy House has marshalling roles available to men and women, please call 01225 721 480 to offer your services.
Standard registration costs £20 but there is an early bird offer of £15 available until 14th July and all entrants receive an exclusive t-shirt before the event. Entries close on 3rd September or a late entry fee of £25 is available from Monday 4th September. Children aged 16 years and under must be accompanied by a paying adult and walkers are requested to pledge a minimum of £40 sponsorship or make a donation in lieu of sponsorship.
Walkers can either accessorise their Bath Moonlight Walk “Saturday Night Diva” T-shirt with glittery disco gear or put together their own retro, disco outfit. For excellent upcycling and to help the hospice fund vital patient care, look for your nearest Dorothy House charity shop at www.dorothyhouse.org.uk/shops/ to find a vintage bargain to wear.
Emily Knight, events fundraiser, Dorothy House Hospice Care said of the walk, “The enthusiasm of the walkers to support their local hospice is always amazing and it’s often a special time to remember a loved one while having a fun girls’ night out with friends, family or colleagues while also doing something meaningful. Last year’s Bath Moonlight Walk raised £95,000 so it would be fantastic to beat that figure this year.”
