Estate agent’s ‘gold’ standard service recognised with top award

AN estate agent in Melksham is the Regional Gold Winner for Wiltshire in the British Property Awards for delivering a premium service.

Kingstons Estate Agents, based on the High Street, was the Gold Winner Estate Agent in Corsham and Melksham last year; following this win, the company was entered into the regional awards and won gold after being mystery shopped.

“The awards celebrate the agents that aim to go the extra mile and provide the highest quality of customer service,” said company director Lee Emery. “We’re delighted to have won the gold award; it recognises the hard work and training that all our team put in to offer a premium service with the service we offer being confirmed independently.”

Kingstons Estate Agents has been trading for 30 years, selling properties in Melksham, Trowbridge and Bradford-on-Avon.

The British Property Awards were created by a team of previous Estate Agency owners to reward excellent service in the estate agency industry.

Estate agents are independently assessed against a set of 25 criteria on a town-by-town basis over a number of months, relying on feedback from successful sales.

The award organisers say, “Our mission is to provide a useful award for the consumer on a local level, highlighting excellence within their town, an award that can be trusted and used as part of their decision-making process.”

  • New season off to a winning start for Town with FA Cup win

Melksham Town began their new season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Fleet Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday 8th August.

Dan McBeam scored the only goal of the game with a shot from outside the box, booking Melksham a local derby against Devizes Town in the next round on Saturday 22nd August.

Manager Kieran Baggs praised his side’s character and defensive discipline after what he described as a difficult away fixture against a “really, really good Step 5 side”.

“Not a classic for the supporters but one thing they will notice is the character, the grit, the determination, the togetherness, that was all there in abundance today,” he said.

  • Melksham family help battle Turkey wildfire

Melksham residents on holiday in Turkey have described helping locals battle a fast-spreading wildfire as ‘heartbreaking and heartwarming’.

The fire spread to within 300 metres of the villa where the Melksham family were staying in Fethiye, south-west Turkey, during a two-week holiday with their children and their son’s friend.

They described the area looking like the ‘gates of hell’ as flames swept through surrounding woodland and suffered burns while helping locals.

George Maslen said, “My partner Kaleigh and I left our eldest son in the villa with our youngest children, and Freddie, our son’s friend, came with us to see what was going on. The police told us to turn around but, as we did, we saw a young girl filling up bottles of water with her dad and throwing them on the embers. At this point, we knew we had to do something to help. We joined them in filling up bottles of water.”
