LOCAL estate agent, Lee Emery, is raising money for charity on his 50th birthday, in memory of his stepfather, Roy Denning, who died last year at the age of 84.
Lee will be swimming 84 lengths of the Melksham Blue Pool, cycling 84 miles on his road bike, followed by 8.4 km run – all on Wednesday 9th March, the date of his 50th birthday.
Money raised from the challenge will go to Parkinson’s UK, a charity that offers information and support to people living with Parkinson’s, a disease that Lee’s stepfather Roy suffered from. Lee has set himself a fundraising target of £2,500 and has already raised over £2,200.
“Watching someone pass away with Parkinson’s is just horrendous,” said Lee, “and I wanted to do something that might help other people living with the disease – help other people not suffer.
“And I thought if I do it on my 50th birthday, it will help me to always remember it!
“People have already been very generous; it has been amazing – I’ve made sure to thank each person that has donated.
“Some people might know my stepfather Roy locally – he passed away at Blenheim House care home and he was acting chief constable at Wiltshire constabulary in Devizes, serving 56 years – he got an MBE for it!”
