A MEMBER of staff at a Melksham-based care company is embarking on a challenge to trek to Mount Everest Base Camp.

Autonomy Care Group’s Marketing Coordinator, Jen Latham is raising money for Stepping Stones District Specialist Centre – a charity based in Trowbridge that supports pre-school children aged 0 to 5 years who have special needs.
Money raised will go towards the pre-school’s garden project, which aims to update and upgrade their garden area that is now over 10 years old. Stepping Stones want to be able to improve the existing garden by making it a safe and stimulating outdoor play area for the children to access all year round.
The fundraising target of £4,000 has already been met, so Jen and Autonomy Care Group are now hoping to go above and beyond the target before the fundraiser ends on 31st May.
“Autonomy Care Group and I have chosen to contribute the ‘Get Set Go blocks’ to the garden project,” explains Jen, “which will be customised by a company for the garden space, for children of all ages and abilities to enjoy.
“The blocks are safe and versatile for climbing and adventures, but will also have balancing blocks for added safe fun – and we are thrilled to raise funds to help contribute towards this feature in their new garden!”
Autonomy Care Group say, “The last year and a half has proven to be challenging for many, with plenty of tough times during the pandemic, particularly for small local charities. Please support Jen who is challenging herself to raise funds for the children in West Wiltshire with additional needs who attend Stepping Stones. You can follow her journey on the Autonomy care Facebook page whilst she is trekking Everest!”
Jen continues, “Let’s keep climbing together and please share our story. If you’d like to donate please visit the website – 100% goes to Stepping Stones charity: https://localgiving.org/fundraising/everestbasecamp/.”
