Seend will be holding its 65th Flower Show on Saturday 9th August this year.
It will take place in the Community Centre, Rusty Lane, Seend. The Seend Fete is being held on the adjoining Lye Field – so you can enjoy two grand spectacles in the same area, 12.30pm – 5.00pm.
The Flower Show is an open event so entries are invited from all who may be interested in showing the results of their hard work in the garden, kitchen, and house. The show programme can be seen at www.seend.org.uk/ fshow from which the entries schedules and entry form can be downloaded.
If you have any problems obtaining a schedule or entry form or have a question contact the show secretary, tel: 01380 827137.
The organisers said, “Of course there are large sections for vegetables, fruit, flowers, natural and arranged, and pot plants with additional sections for home produce (yum!), handicrafts, and photography. Particularly there are two sections for children: one for ages up to eight years and one for nine to 12 year olds. We are hoping for lots of inspirational entries from children.
Seend School will be sending art from all their children as will Seend Playgroup.
“There will be cups and certificates galore! This year there is a new trophy for Best Exhibit in Show; it is the Altfield Bowl generously presented by our sponsor Altfield. Altfield have also presented the Altfield Cup for Most Points in the Home Produce classes.
“Entries in the children’s sections are free. There is a single exhibitor fee of £2 for up to 10 entries (and a further £2 for any more entries above 10) so the more entries you have the more cost effective it is!
“Hope to see you there because it will be a fun day. If you are just a spectator this year we hope that you will be inspired to put in entries next time. Come and say hello to any show committee member, especially if you would like to be involved in helping to stage next year’s show.
