MELKSHAM Town’s Conigre home is to host a family fun day and charity football match in memory of a popular Melksham rugby player.
The event takes place from 12.30pm on Sunday 3rd August and will be raise funds for Dorothy House where former Melksham Rugby player Chris Bull spent much of his time before he sadly passed away in December.
The family fun day will include a bouncy castle, merry-go-round, barbecue, raffle and much more, together with the football match between Melksham rugby club and the Melksham based Sunday league team Sportzcoach Dragonz. Entry into the football match on the Conigre pitch is £2 and kids are free with every penny made on the day going to the Chris Bull Tulip Fund, Dorothy House. Kick off is at 4.30pm
Both the rugby and football club bars will also be open. The day has been organised by Joe Hargreaves who in previous years has hosted charity football matches at the Conigre for cancer charities.
He said, “In the past the events have been really well attended but this year feels extra special as it is for Bully, who was a great guy and I know we will have a lot more people support it because it’s for him.
“I am hoping the day will raise over £1,000 and anything more will be a massive bonus. It is great to have a match between the best Sunday league team in Melksham and the rugby club and I am sure there will be some interesting challenges going in from the rugby lads so it will be worth the entry fee just for that! I would also like to thank Melksham Rugby Club for being so supportive and agreeing to take part, Boomerang who have donated some of the equipment for the funday and to Darren Perrin and Melksham Town FC for use of the facilities.”
As well as joining in the family fun day and football match, Melksham Rugby Club will also be taking part in a charity cycle later in August for the Chris Bull Tulip Fund, Dorothy House.
They will cycle the 220 miles from Melksham Rugby Club where Chris Bull last played to Teignmouth Rugby Club where he played as a boy.
