WATCH more great films at Melksham’s own cinema at the Assembly Hall, and there’s something for everyone.
The Lady in the Van (12A) will be shown on Friday 26th February at 7.30pm. It is directed by Nicholas Hytner, written by Alan Bennett, and stars Maggie Smith, Alex Jennings, Roger Allam, Deborah Findlay and Jim Broadbent. A man forms an unexpected bond with a transient woman living in her car that’s parked in his driveway.
Brooklyn (12A) will be shown on Friday 18th March at 7.30pm. An Irish immigrant (Saoirse Ronan) in 1950s New York falls for a tough Italian plumber (Emory Cohen), but faces temptation from another man (Domhnall Gleeson) when she returns to her homeland for a visit.
Goosebumps (PG) will be shown on Saturday 19th March at 10.30am. Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbour Hannah (Odeya Rush). The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah’s mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling Goosebumps series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it’s up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.
Dad’s Army (12A) will be shown on Friday 25th March at 7.30pm. Near the end of World War II, the Walmington-on-Sea Home Guard platoon deals with a female journalist and a German spy.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (PG) will be shown on Saturday 26th March at 10.30am. Music manager Dave (Jason Lee) is not only enjoying a burgeoning career, but a blossoming romance with Samantha (Kimberly Williams-Paisley), a beautiful doctor who works in the emergency room. Through a series of misunderstandings, the chipmunks start to believe that a marriage proposal is on the horizon. Dreading the thought of an antagonistic stepbrother (Josh Green), Alvin (Justin Long), Theodore and Simon embark on a cross-country odyssey to prevent their best pal from ruining their lives.
