A MAN was taken to hospital when a barn near Shaw was devastated by an overnight blaze last weekend, which tore through hay bales, gas canisters and vehicles.
Firefighters were alerted that the barn on Norrington Lane had caught fire in the early evening of Sunday 24th January.
Local parish councillor Terry Chivers said that he received a phone call at about 10pm on Sunday, by which time the fire had been brought under control. Cllr Chivers said that around 500 tonnes of hay had been burnt, as well as gas canisters, and that one man had been taken to hospital.
Firefighters were still at the scene on Monday afternoon.
