FOLLOWING last year’s success, Melksham Christmas Lights Group is once again holding a Fireworks Display on Thursday 5th November at Forest Community Centre, with all proceeds going directly into the Christmas Lights fund.
Organiser Paul Weymouth said, “Each year we try to make Melksham Christmas Lights bigger and better than the year before and this year will be no different. And the fireworks night will hopefully be a big fundraiser for us.
“We’ve been working on brilliant new ways to improve the lights and have some great ideas that a lot of towns haven’t done before, so Melksham will definitely stand out this year.
“Last year’s fireworks display was a great success and rammed with people. We want it to be just as good if not better than last year’s. Everyone who attends will be helping make this year’s lights that little bit more special and they can witness that just one month later.
“Melksham is one of very few towns where volunteers, backed by the local community, provide the lights and everyone is always so excited to see what they look like. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but it’s all worth it because we want to keep pumping these events into the town to keep it alive.”
Gates for the fireworks display open at 5.00pm, with a colourful bonfire being lit at 7pm. There will be musical fireworks at 7.30pm with children’s activities indoors and children’s rides outside, cupcakes, hot food, drinks and a licensed bar, plus quick service bottle bar outside and Glow and LED novelties on sale.
Advance tickets are on sale now and available from the town hall, Forest Community Centre and Cobblers Bench or you can order tickets online. Advance ticket offers automatic entry into a £50 cash draw on the night.
Full details are available online at www.melkshamchristmaslights.com including a map of the site with gate locations. Limited parking for less able people will be available at the centre, and it is easy access from the town via Murray Walk. All entrances and walkways will be well lit and drivers are asked to park sensibly in the surrounding areas.
