MELKSHAM Walking Netball team took part in their first ever tournament on Saturday 11th February at Corsham Campus.
The Walking Netball Festival was organised by Corsham’s Walking Netball team to celebrate the memory of an ex-Corsham/Melksham player, Sylvia Higgs. It is the first time the tournament has been held since the Covid pandemic.
Sue Mortimer said, “Melksham ladies have taken part in training sessions in the Campus since October 2022. It is the first time the team has played any matches. Everyone really enjoyed the day. Melksham ended up fifth. The tournament winners were Calne, with Corsham the runners-up. Sylvia’s husband, sister and granddaughter attended the presentation.
“Over £400 was raised during the tournament for Dementia UK and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“We welcome new members to our friendly sessions, which take part everyone Monday indoors at Melksham Campus, 4pm to 5pm. It is a pay-as-you-go £3 a session, with the first taster session free.”
