THIS year’s Melksham Food and River Festival was launched in style earlier this month with the support of popular TV personality, Paul Martin.
At the launch, Paul – who presents BBC1’s ‘Flog It!’ – praised Melksham for its ‘civic pride’ and the volunteers behind the ‘unique’ festival. He also announced that he would be opening the festival and be in attendance on both days.
It was also announced that the festival has two new sponsors – the ASDA Foundation and the Melksham Rotary Club.
Chair of Festival Committee, Adrienne Westbrook, told the 2019 Festival breakfast launch event, “We are pleased to announce that the ASDA Foundation and the Melksham Rotary Club will be helping to fund this year’s Festival. This is along with Melksham Town Council, Leekes, LPS, Cooper Tires, and Foxhangers who are already supporting the event.
“This year the Festival will cost around £12,000 to put on. So, these sponsorship grants are absolutely vital to enable us keep this popular Festival free for the public to attend”.
The 2019 Festival will take place in Melksham’s enhanced King George V Playing Field over the weekend of Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September”.
Already 70 stalls have booked places at the Festival, and some new activities are planned to run alongside other returning popular activities for people to enjoy.
Adrienne says, “It promises to be an amazing weekend with so much to do and see. We do hope people will come along to enjoy themselves”.
