A BROUGHTON Gifford band are celebrating after being awarded a ‘best album’ award by a Bristol radio station.
Billy in the Lowground recently discovered that their latest album ‘Ticket to Somewhere’ was voted ‘Best Album of 2016 by a local artist’ on Bristol’s BCfm Sunday Rock Show.
The veteran folk rock band play original songs written by Broughton Gifford’s Chris Hibberd.
The band’s fiddle player Ruth Behan said, “We were very pleased to hear about the award! We’re looking forward to a busy season of festivals this year including Bearded Theory, Priming the Pump and Once upon a Time in the West.
“Don’t miss our warm-up gig when we headline the Fest-i-Bell at our local – the wonderful Bell on the Common in Broughton Gifford.”
Billy in the Lowground will headline the two-day festival on Sunday 23rd April. Also appearing will be another local band, The Boot Hill All Stars, who will headline on Saturday 22nd. There will be other local artists playing during the daytime for a weekend in aid of charity.
