FORMER Melksham News reporter, Sam Blanchard, is now working for The Sun newspaper in London.
Sam, who worked for the Melksham News from 2014 to 2017, is now a health journalist for Britain’s largest-selling daily.
He moved to the paper last year after a three-year period at the Daily Mail Online.
Sam, who grew up in Holt and still has family there, said, “Covid has made it a busy couple of years to be a health reporter.
“It was a real thrill to be working right in the heart of the pandemic during the lockdowns and the vaccine development and rollout.
“I bagged a few front page splash stories with the vaccine breakthroughs and even made a couple of TV appearances at the Downing Street briefings last year.
“Since Covid has died down, the stories are more varied, with plenty of light-hearted ones, and I was lucky enough to go to a medical conference in Chicago this summer.
“I enjoy the job because working for the paper instead of online lets me get out and about and talking to people more – skills I learned here at the Melksham News.
“I still follow the local news online and pick up a copy when I’m home, and I can never resist driving through to check out the Christmas lights!”
