The former Tavern pub in the Market Place is reopening, with a new name, new look, and a exciting new theme!
The Market Lounge – café, bar and restaurant, will be a place for all the family to enjoy, with a wide variety of food and drink on offer – including a carvery on Wednesdays and Sundays.
The team behind The Market Lounge are Leanne and Alper Kaplan, former owners of LA Diner, and business partner Pete Oldknow – bringing with them over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
And the trio plan to restore the iconic building back to its glory days, making it a ‘hub for the community’.
“We’re feeling really excited,” Leanne told Melksham News, “We want to make this a place for the whole community, and for The Market Lounge to be a real focal point in the heart of the town.
“It will be a family-style restaurant, where everyone is welcome – and it will be dog-friendly.
“We plan to serve breakfasts, lunch, evening meals – proper pub grub. And of course our speciality will be the carvery, which we plan to hold on Wednesdays and Sundays. And for the Wednesdays we are thinking about hosting ‘bingo and a boogie’ for the older generation.
“We are hoping to open in six weeks, and are planning a grand opening. But currently we are hard at work transforming the building – it’s going to have a new look, and a new feel – The Market Lounge is for all the community, and we are looking forward to sharing it with everyone.”
