SOMERSET Care based in Melksham, have joined forces with Carer Support Wiltshire to offer training for carers.
The sessions will be on a fortnightly rolling programme and as it is topic based, with places available to carers providing support to relatives, friends or neighbours. There is no charge for carers registered with Carer Support and as the sessions are topic based, people can dip in and out to fit the sessions around their caring role.
Denise Cooper from Somerset Care said, “We are looking at ways to promote as people do not have to be receiving a service from us to book a place.
“Our induction runs as a two-week programme, with individual topics lasting between two and a half to three hours. As the programme is subject to change, it is better if people are aware that we offer free training and ring in for arrangements and to book in.
Sessions include, dementia awareness, nutrition and hydration, moving people etc.”
