Comic fans of all ages made the journey to Komix Melksham on Saturday 3rd May to take place in the annual Free Comic Book Day event, eager to snatch up some of the exclusive books produced especially for the event.
This year the Komix-run event was organised in partnership with Melksham Comic-Con, in order to raise funds and awareness for the popular community event.
Over the course of the day, over 1000 comics (including titles by Marvel and DC) were given away to the approximately 500 people that visited the shop. Pulled pork rolls (catered by the Kings Arms Hotel) and pick ‘n’ mix bags were also on offer, and the Convention’s planning team staff were on hand to help out during the very busy day.
Komix owner Hayley Spencer was very pleased with how the day went. She said, “We saw lots of new faces and regulars bringing along friends and family too, immersing themselves in the world of comics and realising that there is much more to it than just superheroes – not that they aren’t great of course!”
Tickets for this year’s Melksham Comic-Con at the end of August are available now, either from Komix Melksham (The Roundhouse, Church Street) or from www.melkshamcomiccon.com
