Girls in Years 8 to 11 are invited to take part in a series of free, fun and inclusive sports sessions at King George V Park this summer.
Running every Friday from 25th July to 29th August, from 1pm to 2pm, the USGIRLS sessions offer a relaxed and supportive environment to try new activities, make friends and build confidence.
Activities on offer include combat sports, yoga, dancercise, spin and gym, rugby, and more – all delivered by mentors who are there to encourage and support.
Wiltshire Council’s Community Sport Place Lead, Joe Aygul, said, “Research shows us over a million teenage girls in the UK who once considered themselves ‘sporty’, disengage from sport following primary school due to lack of confidence, fear of judgment and not feeling safe outside. This trend is concerning because it can lead to long-term negative impacts on their physical and mental wellbeing.
“We can’t wait to welcome the girls to our sessions over the summer and introduce them to our range of fantastic sessions!”
