Free suncream is now available in the King George V Playing Fields thanks to a new community initiative supported by local business Gompels and Melksham Town Council.
Melksham Town Council has installed a suncream dispenser beside the noticeboard, near the King George V public toilets.
The water-resistant SPF 50 suncream is available for anyone enjoying the playing fields, helping children and adults stay protected while spending time outdoors.
The dispenser will be checked periodically and replenished where possible throughout the summer.
Sam Gompels said, “The support we’ve received from the local community over the years has helped Gompels grow into the thriving business it is today. As a proud local employer, we’re always looking for opportunities to give something back to the town that has supported us for so long.
“We hope residents and visitors alike find it useful as they make the most of the fantastic facilities at King George V Playing Fields this summer.”
Mayor of Melksham Saffi Rabey said, “We’re really pleased to be working with Gompels to provide free suncream at King George V Playing Fields.
“It’s a simple but important step that will help people enjoy our outdoor spaces safely over the summer and it shows what can be achieved when local organisations come together for the benefit of our community.
“We would encourage everyone to use the dispenser considerately, take only what you need and follow trusted advice on applying suncream so it remains available for others to benefit from as well.”
