Lacock Riding Centre is holding an equine boot sale, novelty dog show and fun day to raise money for the Riding for the Disabled Group.
The event, on Sunday 20th July, will include craft stalls, pony rides (10-11 a.m.) bouncy castle and a raffle. There will also be demonstrations during the morning from Move Well Ride Well, pilates and body awareness from 11am – 12 noon and also a riding demonstration from 12 noon – 1pm by Claire Lilley, a local dressage rider and instructor. Donations for RDA will be taken on the door for these demonstrations.
Suzie Loftin, owner of Lacock Riding Centre said, “Riding for the Disabled has been based here at Lacock Riding Centre for over 40 years and I am delighted to be organizing and hosting this fundraising event for a second year. Local traders have been very generous in donating some amazing raffle prizes and we will have a wide variety of craft stalls from cup cakes to novelty gifts and jewellery.
“This year we are including a novelty dog show as well which is being organized by Chrissy Morris and we hope that lots of dogs and their owners will come along to join in the fun. With classes like ‘The Most Ear-ristable – for the dog with the coolest ears!’ and ‘The swiftest sausage sleuth!’ there is something for everyone. The equine car boot sale is an excellent opportunity for riders to sell any unwanted tack and equipment or to find themselves some bargains.”
Lacock Riding for the Disabled is a local charity (No 1074304) which is part of the national charity Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA). They provide riding lessons after school for disabled children to help improve their health and wellbeing, delivering real and lasting therapy that benefits mobility and coordination, encourages confidence, communication and self worth whilst having fun.
The Lacock group is the only after school RDA group in Wiltshire, offering a free service to ensure they do not discriminate with respect to parents/ guardians’ financial circumstances. The Group receives no funding from the national body and have to raise all their running costs themselves.
The fundraiser is on Sunday 20th July at Lacock Riding Centre, Bewley Lane, Lacock (SN15 2PH) from 9.30am to 1.30pm, entry is £1 for adults and 50p for children. The dog show starts at 10.30am with entries being taken on the day only.
