FOLLOWING the success of last year’s Platinum Jubilee Fair, organised by Community Action Whitley & Shaw (CAWS), the group is looking forward to welcoming residents to the summer family music fair on Saturday 17th June at 2pm to 7pm, on Shaw Playing Fields.
The event will again feature a dog show and classic car display plus the Shaw & Whitley Community Bar and BBQ, with burgers and sausages supplied by Lowden Garden Centre. Teas, coffees and cake will be available from Spindles Coffee Stop and local supporters.
There will be plenty for the children to do with ice creams, soft play and bouncy castles, a climbing wall from the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning team, stilt walkers and a circus workshop. There will also be a performance from the Melksham School of Ballet, Tap and Modern and the ever-popular Rock Choir.
Committee member Nick Adsett said, “The main live music trailer stage will feature an extended and exciting line up this year with performances from local band The Decades; Jade, a young vocalist and upcoming new band Sebastian & Me; with People Like US concluding the evening’s entertainment.
“Our amazing raffle also has some incredible prizes! Coppins Jewellers of Corsham are offering a very generous £250 voucher; we have a dinner, bed and breakfast voucher worth £225 from the Pear Tree Whitley; a £100 food and beverage voucher from Il Vello D’Oro The Golden Fleece in Shaw; Sunday Roast for two including a bottle of wine from the White Hart, Atworth; a standup paddle board (SUP) kindly donated by Aquaplanet; a signed Bath Rugby shirt; and a £100 voucher from local business Wild View Cameras, amongst many other prizes.
“Free parking is available adjacent to Whitley Golf Club and a shuttle bus will run from Corsham Road, Scholars Way George Ward, Atworth layby opposite Purlpit, and the Pear Tree Whitley. Straw bales will be available for seating but feel free to bring your own camping chairs and rugs.
“The CAWS committee looks forward to welcoming everybody to this year’s event and we hope the weather is kind and everyone has a fantastic time. All proceeds go directly back into the local community so thank you in advance for your support.”
