A LOCAL woman from Semington is organising a fundraising event to raise money for the RUH Cancer Centre and Community First.
Clare Williamson is organising ‘Party for Life – Let’s Celebrate’ in memory of her brother Mark who died suddenly in 2011.
In 2009 Clare organised first organised Party for Life to raise awareness and money for Cancer Research UK and RUH breast cancer unit, raising over £7,000 and the profits were split between the charities.
Clare said, “My motivation to organise ‘Party for Life’ again has been driven largely by two people in my life; my brother Mark, who sadly we lost at Christmas in 2011 and my mum Pauline who is currently fighting stage four lymphatic cancer and is my rock and inspiration. Raising money for the RUH is really important to me because my mum is currently having treatment there. I want to give back as much money as possible to the RUH as the doctors are helping keep my mum alive.
‘Party for Life’ will take place on Friday 6th November at the Trowbridge Civic Centre starting at 7.30pm with a drinks reception and canapés. The evening entertainment will be provided by a Bristol-based function band, The Soul Strutters. Tickets cost £40 which includes a two-course dinner. There will also be a raffle and auction during the evening.
Clare is raising money for two charities; Community First which works to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of people and local communities throughout Wiltshire and the RUH in Bath which is having a new cancer care unit built.
Clare said, “Both charities are amazing. The staff at Community First have enthusiasm in abundance for the work they do and the services they offer across our county. They have made a huge difference in the community and changed so many lives. The new cancer care unit in Bath is all about lives in the future and this event will help patients and their families every day when their lives are changed forever by cancer.
“So please help me raise awareness and vital funding for these two charities. Let’s celebrate what we have and that we are alive and surrounded by amazing people. We’re here for a good time not for a long time, so let’s party!”
