The Melksham Gardeners’ Society had a talk on peonies and irises by Susan Applegate on Tuesday 26th April.
Cary Hopkins reports, “Susannah was recently on Gardeners’ World extolling the virtues of peonies and irises and was no less enthusiastic about her passion when talking to our group. Explaining the difference between types of peonies and how to plant our irises correctly were amongst the many items she covered during the course of the evening; whilst also giving us the chance to buy various plants at the end too. Many thanks for such an interesting and interactive talk and I know a lot of people went home with more plants.
“Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 28th May at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm with our infamous Plant Swap and quiz. Bring along plants/cuttings/ seedlings/bulbs and swap for something new and then show off your prowess in plant knowledge in the quiz – not that we’re saying the quiz is fiendish but no-one to date has got full marks!
“New members and guests are always welcome. Entry is £1 for members and £2 for guests. Annual membership is £10. For more details please call 702716 or Email: melksham_gardeners@live.co.uk.”
