THERE’S non-stop entertainment at Melksham Assembly Hall in the coming weeks.
This Friday, 15th March, tribute act Genesis Legacy bring their celebration of the British super group Genesis to the Assembly Hall.
Organisers say, “Genesis Legacy is a celebration show band unlike any other. Genesis is a super group that featured 4 pillars of British rock, pop and progressive rock that set the careers for Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett.
“Steve and Peter went on to launch successful solo careers, but neither were as stratospheric as Phil Collins himself – giving us some of the best loved pop music ever produced. Mike Rutherford’s side project, Mike and the Mechanics, was formed with Paul Carrack and Paul Young (not that one!) and gave us such hits as “In the Living Years” and “Over my shoulder”.
“Genesis Legacy brings the biggest songs from those five connected super-acts into an explosive show performed by super-fans of these artists with an attention to detail and affection for the music that’s rarely found in a tributing show today.” Tickets cost £15.
On Sunday 17th March, the Assembly Hall welcomes bass guitarist John Illsley, one of the founding members of the legendary band Dire Straits. John will be entertaining the audience with a night of music, memories and a question and answer session.
During their time, Dire Straits sold over 120 million albums – including ‘Brothers in Arms’ and ‘Money for Nothing’ – making them one of the biggest rock & roll bands of all time.
Organisers say, “John looks back at the band’s journey from humble beginnings to international fame. He will be joined on stage by musicians from his band to play Dire Straits hits including, Romeo and Juliet and Sultans of Swing, along with some of his more recent compositions. This will be an intimate evening celebrating one of the biggest rock bands of all time.” Tickets cost £25.
On Sunday 24th March, the monthly roller disco returns to the Assembly Hall. Organisers say, “We are putting this on in collaboration with Toe Jam Roller; we’ll be having a roller disco on every third Sunday of the month. “The times are: 2.30pm-4.00pm and 4.30pm-6.00pm.
