Melksham & District Beekeeper’s Association is holding an ‘Introduction to Beekeeping’ course this spring.
If you’ve always wanted to keep honey bees, then this is a great opportunity to find out everything you need to know about setting up a hive, looking after bees, and harvesting your own honey.
The course combines beekeeping theory with practical experience at the club apiary, where students will come to face-to-face with hives full of thousands of bees.
Course leader Richard Rickitt says, “Everyone is increasingly aware of the importance of honey bees and other pollinators to our environment and our economic wellbeing. By attending this course people will discover the fascinating delights of keeping honey bees as a hobby, whist doing their bit to protect the local environment.”
Dates; Thursday evenings 27th April, 4th, 11th, 18th May 2016. Practical sessions on weekend dates, arranged according to weather. Cost: £40 for adults, £60 for couples, Under 18s FREE. Full details are on the club website: www.mbka.org
