GIFFORDS Surgery has warned patients to be vigilant following reports of scam emails that are asking for bank details when booking Covid-19 vaccinations.
The surgery has reminded patients that it would never ask patients to share their bank details and has said that all scam emails should be deleted or reported to the relevant authorities.
And according to Action Fraud, they have received over 1,000 reports nationally of the phishing email scam sent on Monday 25 January.
In a message to patients, Giffords Surgery said, “We have been notified by some of our patients today (Tuesday 26th January) that they have received an email from their surgery to request them to click a link and book their Covid vaccination.
“Once the link is clicked and opened, patients are then being asked to confirm their identity and enter their bank details to get their vaccination. Please be advised that this email is NOT being sent by Giffords Surgery and the NHS will never ask you to share your bank details to confirm your identity. These emails need to be deleted or reported to the applicable authorities. Please do not contact the surgery to report.”
You can report any suspicious emails by forwarding them to report@phishing. gov.uk or text messages to 7726 free of charge.
