A WOMAN from Beanacre has completed her first half-marathon in memory of her friend who died of cancer.
Linda Roberts completed the 13.1 mile distance at the Great North Run held in Newcastle to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice who cared for her friend, Karlie Williams, who died from cancer aged just 33.
Linda completed the course in 2 hours 11 minutes and enjoyed her first experience of the distance. She said, “I found the race easy but I loved every minute. At the finish line I felt exhilarated and emotional. I chose Dorothy House Hospice Care as my friend Karlie and her family had first class care from them throughout. I raised £2,550 which was more then the £1,000 fundraising target I had given myself.”
Linda now hopes to do more races, with the Bath Half Marathon on 2nd March the next event she plans on running.
